PSW505 vs. DSW Pro 600 September 3, 2010 dave I own two polk subwoofers: DSW Pro 600 and PSW505. Before I bought the PSW505, I searched high and low for a comparison of the two and nobody seemed to know the differences. Well here goes................Price. That's about it.........
PSW505 is just as loud, just as clear, and hits just as deep as the DSW Pro 600 for any normal to somewhat loud listening level during both music and movies. The sound this sub puts out is something fierce. I only try to wake my immediate neighbors, not the ones 3 houses down, so I can't honestly vouch for a comparison at deafening volumes. Anybody that raves about how much better the DSW Pro line of subs is than this sub has lost their mind and is just trying to justify their waste of the extra money.
Take it from me.... if you have questioned buying this over the dsw pro model, save your hard earned money or put it towards something else that would benefit your system more. Buy this sub, you won't be disappointed.
Very good speaker September 3, 2010 R Gibbons (Silicon Valley, California) Very happy with the Polk subwoofer, Good price for the great specs and reviews this receives. Looks nice, sounds good, well built.
Note on J&R Music, who sold this: The box arrived with a wet bottom, that was falling apart. J&R paid for return shipping, and sent me another one in good conditions. Their good/quick service turned an unhappy experience into a happy ending. I'd be glad to deal with them again.

Quailty......at a fraction of the price August 27, 2010 A. Carner (Maple Grove, MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Plugged it in and got blown away. I've used a JBL PB12 and it was good sounding although the amp was suspect ( it died ). This one has a bash amplifier, which most audiophiles know is a great amp. It has an LFE. And more options than I needed. I run it through a pioneer vsx519k receiver which doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it has good power. Satellites are JBL Northridge series. Together the system sounds amazing. I live in a townhome so I don't get too loud. But what's nice is that this sub sounds good at pretty much any level. It doesn't draw attention to itself it's not boomy. It has a very smooth sound and grabs the low frequencies. It says 23hz at 55db and I believe it. I've heard a lot of other subs most which cost a lot more and I have to say the bang for the buck with this sub is incredible.
Great subwoofer August 19, 2010 BG 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this after looking at several sites. You cant get a better bargain for a sub woofer. I believe these woofers are no longer in production they have a newer version that are a little bit pricey. So grab it while you can. I am using it in the basement and the furniture's upstairs rumble if I increase the volume on my Onkyo system.
I need to reinstall my recessed lighting. August 13, 2010 GregHallentown I updated my Paradigm 9semk3 speakers with the Yamaha rxv 1065. Decided to update the Yamaha sub with the polk PSW505 and wow what a difference. Took a little while to find the sweet spot but at the end of Abbey Road my recessed cans in the ceiling started to rattle. Even more surprising was the quality of bass at lower volume levels. One of my deciding factors was that this is a tried and true design with virtually no complaints. At $249 this is a must buy unit.
