Amazon.com Product Description Give your movies and music the rich, powerful audio they deserve with the Polk Audio PSW10 powered subwoofer. Hailing from Polk's reborn Monitor series--which ushered in the modern loudspeaker era in the mid-1970s--the sub combines quality construction with high-end performance, all for a price that won't break the bank. The PSW10 is equipped with a 10-inch polymer-composite cone driver that creates tight, musical bass, along with state-of-the-art laser-based Klippel measurement technology to perfectly center the voice coil within the magnetic field. The Klippel technology improves the linearity of the frequencies to ensure a deep, precise sound for everything from action-movie explosions to cello musical passages. Adding to the quality is the non-resonant medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure, the 0.75-inch baffles, and the internal bracing, all of which contribute to the sub's superior detail, accuracy, and musicality. Meanwhile, the PSW10's built-in high-current amplifier (50 watts RMS, 100 watts dynamic) supplies all the power you need for big bass, while the adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch, and volume control make it easy to blend your sub's output with your front and rear speakers. The sub even includes automatic signal-sensing circuitry, meaning it knows when to turn itself on and off. Though the PSW10 will work with any speakers, the sub specifically designed to complement the clean, stylish look and robust sounds of Polk's entire Monitor speaker line. The black oak finish is particularly compelling, with a style that fits seamlessly with most modern furnishings. Connectivity stems from the line- and speaker-level inputs, along with the unfiltered LFE input. The combined options make it easy to connect the PSW10 with any receiver or amplifier. And movie fans will delight in the magnetic shielding, which protects nearby TVs and video monitors from video distortion. Measuring 14 by 14.38 by 16.12 inches (W x H x D) and backed by a five-year warranty on the speaker and a three-year warranty on the internal amp, the PSW10 makes a great introduction to powerful home theater sound. What's in the Box PSW10 subwoofer, removable grille, registration card, user's manual.

Fantastic bass made even better by the savings September 1, 2010 gugi The Polk PSW10 provides plenty of deep bass and works easily with many products. If you have a sound bar and are looking for extra bass this product will provide plenty. Adding this to a home theater system is also very easy and provides more bass then you will ever need. What this means is the product should last for a long time because it will not be overused. I am very happy with the purchase and hope to use the product for many years. Great investment so far.
Polk Auto PSW10 Subwoofer August 29, 2010 Steve I am impressed by this subwoofer, I have had this subwoofer for nine months now and have watched alot of movies and listened to alot of music with it and I like what I have bought. I have got this subwoofer hooked up to a Sony STR-DH800 reciever by RCA Monster cable with a right and left splitter to connect to the subwoofer. Since there is no LFE input I turned the low pass just about all the way up and have got the phase set to 0. This makes enough bass to rattle things in the kitchen one room over, not to mention the picuters on the wall. The auto-on is nice, I have read that there is some lag time but I have not really noticed any. I am pleased with the Polk PSW10 subwoofer.
good August 28, 2010 PA can't go wrong for $99
Bass is a little muddy but really solid for $99
Boom! Wow! August 28, 2010 A. Issa (Apex, NC USA) Wow - I love base and this sub-woofer does not disappoint! Huge difference to my surround sound system. Makes music sound awesome. You can rock out with this puppy. Well built and looks solid. Highly recommended.
Solid entry level powered sub August 27, 2010 Michael Bate Got this to replace a failed sub. Instructions are basic, but give enough information to get it hooked up, though they could be a little more helpful. As many have noted, there is no dedicated mono LFE phono hookup, but the instructions clearly state to connect an LFE port cable to either of the L/R phono inputs and dial the low pass control all the way up. This effectively sets the threshold above the one you set in your external amplifier so the result is the same.
The cherry finish looks good, though up close it's clearly a veneer. But for $84 I won't complain at that.
The sound is great. Much clearer (less muddy sounding) than my previous higher priced model, though as many point out, not meant for large rooms (mine is 12' x 30'). I got mine to a sweet spot - just about loud enough for the movie theater experience, with no distortion during explosions, though it took a fair bit of trial and error.
I doubt you can get anything this good below the $100 price point. Before this I tried the Sony SA-W2500 Performance Line 100 Watt Subwoofer but it was nowhere near as powerful or as clear a sound. Great value.
